Barnsbury Penthouse Apartment
This penthouse apartment contained no furniture at the beginning of our endeavour. The client required that the apartment be turned into a calming, warm abode. The kitchen/living room area was quite narrow so in order to make it appear wider I decided to use wallpaper with thick horizontal stripes that incorporated warm colours that breathed homeliness into the room. Although the colours used in this project needed to be warm ones it was important that they were also subtle and natural and to compliment this theme I used many natural products including: a hemp rug, a walnut coffee table, oak flooring and silk cushions.

Insofar as this room was relatively small I decided to use larger pieces of furniture which, I thought, made a bold statement and made the best possible use of the space. I also used a glass dining table which opens up the room and gave a slightly modern feel which was in contrast to some of the other more traditional pieces in the room.
The finishing touches in this room were particularly important - I think you will agree that the silk cushions and the original 1960s glassware complete the room perfectly!
This is an illustration of how I can cater to 'Urban living' and make smaller rooms bold and warm without compromising their practicality.
